As a blogger, content marketer, or Ads runner, you may have come across this popular word which is “Keywords” but you don’t actually know how it works, how to get it,
or how to add it to a blog or website.
So the question that keeps coming to your mind is “What are Keywords?”, How can I get a low difficulty keyword? Or probably why are keywords Important.
If all these questions above are going through your mind then you are at the right place, because in this article am going to show you the reason why keywords are important when it comes to blogging and all to do with content marketing.
Before even saying anything, is very important you know what the keyword actually stands for.
What are keywords?
When it comes to search engines, a keyword is any word or group of words searched on Google (or another search engine such as Bing, Yahoo and more) that has a result page and a suggested website, that has a solution to the searched query or phrase.
Keywords are words or phrases a website owner will insert into his or her website with the hope that it will rank on the first page of Google or other search engines.
Any term searched on google or other search engine is considered keywords, for example: “Best Keyword Research Tool”.
From the image above, you can see that the ads appearing was well optimized for the term I searched for that’s why it ranked highest amongst the rest ads.
What is The Use of Keywords?
Once you are able to get a list of low competitor keywords then is time to start placing them into your article or content. Most people after being able to get the right keywords, tend to use them wrongly and later complain that keywords are not ranking factors, well is no need to tell you others’ stories let’s talk about us.
Now let’s assume you’ve got the keywords, there’s no need for you to “fill” keywords into your article, instead focus on creating useful information around each of the keywords.
An epitome of It is the article you are reading you can see that every subheading carries a particular keyword.
You may have heard in the past that you have to include the exalt matching phrase you are targeting an assured number of times, but unfortunately, that is an antediluvian method because search engines are much cleverer now. Search engines like Google and Bing can now easily detect articles that are keyword stuffed.
They understand similar words and stimulate content that doesn’t have an exact match keyword but carries a lot of useful information that is around the searched term.
What are Unique Keywords?
Unique keywords have zero or very little competition, when you are able to write a well-detailed article targeting these keywords, there is a high chance for you to rank for those keywords.
However, is very difficult to come across such keywords in some popular niches, though if you are able to put in more time and effort, you can easily phish out such keywords using some free tools.
Are Meta Keywords Important for SEO?
Keywords in meta tags were once in SEO (Search engine optimization) key ranking factors but now they are no more the vast thespians because most search engines comprehended that websites can easily dispose of the meta keywords turf using black-hat keyword padding. So meta keywords are no longer part of the Google ranking system.
However, Google updates are not predictable so do not ignore adding keywords to your meta tags, new updates are rolled out regularly meaning algorithms will also change along the line.

Keywords are important for the reason that they are the kingpin of what people are searching for and the content you are providing to answer that query.

Effective and efficient keyword research is important for SEO. It helps you to know which keyword you should use in your content to get the best SEO results.
There are many free keyword research tools available on the internet but not all of them provide accurate results. It is important to find a reliable and accurate tool that will help you get the best keywords for your content. Some of these tools are paid for while others are free, so it’s important to find one that suits your budget and needs.
Things you should take note of whiles doing keyword research.
Search Volume – This metric shows the number of times a particular term/keyword was searched for in a particular search engine at a given time frame. ( Do not target keywords with traffic volume of below 200).
Keyword Difficulty (KD) – This is a very important metric to look at whiles doing keyword research is more important if your website is new and doesn’t have much organic and social presence, because this tells you how difficult it will be to rank for a particular keyword so I advise smaller websites to target keywords of 30KD and below depends on the traffic volume.
LSI ( Latent Semantic Index(ing) ) – This is a computer program that is built to learn and understand a variety of synonyms based on content. So in general, LSI keywords are simply keywords related to the main keyword that you want to rank your blog post for. This is a very important metric you should pay attention to when gathering keywords for your blog post and Google has been talking about its importance for years now.
From the image above, you can see that my search term is “Affiliate Marketing” and all the other terms recommended by Google Autocomplete are what we refer to as LSI keywords.
