What Is Organic Traffic?
So, you want to drive traffic to your website. Great! You’ve got a fantastic idea and now it’s time to get down to business and start doing everything you can to make it happen. First things first, though—what is organic traffic?
This is an important question because if you don’t understand what traffic is, how will you know what it takes to drive it? For example, when someone visits your website from a Facebook ad, that visit isn’t considered organic traffic because it was paid for and not organically acquired.
Organic traffic is exactly what it sounds like: traffic coming to your website from search engines for free. When someone searches for something in Google and clicks on a result, that’s organic traffic. And, as you might have guessed, most marketers want their content to rank high in search results—and not just on Google, but across all major search engines.
How do they do it? By writing content that attracts attention. If people read and share your content (and they link back to it), it will help your rankings in search engines such as Bing and Yahoo!
Starting an SEO Strategy
The number of organic traffic you will get depends on your SEO strategy, so, when creating content for your blog, it is very important you put your SEO strategies to work. When it comes to content SEO, here are a few things you should put in place before writing a blog post to be published:
- Make a list of Topics – Before you kick start on publishing your first post, it is very important you come up with at least 10 words or terms associated with your niche after which you can use an SEO tool like SE-Ranking to do keyword research and see the number of traffic each phrase or word gets per month, before deciding on which one to write about.

Choosing the Right Keywords
Being able to do the keyword research is not actually the real deal, the main deal here is how can you pick the right keywords for your blog and how are you going to use them in other to get the best results for your work.
If you are new to the term keyword, then the keyword is simply the term or phrases people typed into their search bar on search engines like Google.
When it comes to choosing the right keywords, here are some things you should pay maximum attention to.
- Search Volume – This is the number of searches that a particular term or phrase gets per month.
- Keyword Difficulty – This is how difficult it is for any website targeting that keyword to rank on the first page of Google.
- Cost Per Click ( CPC ) – This is how much you stand to earn whenever some =one clicks on an ad on your website related to that keyword.
For a new website, I highly recommend you target keywords with a difficulty of 18 and below, however, this depends on how competitive your niche is, and no matter how competitive it is, do not target keyword difficulties higher than 30.
As for the search volume, if you get a keyword that’s 18 having a search volume of 100, then it is a good keyword to target.
Make sure your first 20-30 articles should target a long-tail keyword because it will be easier for a new website to rank for long-tail keywords than short-tail.
